Glove Anesthesia

Hi it's me again. Here with the next meditation. It's called Glove Anesthesia. This technique was adapted from the book entitled Free Yourself From Pain by David Bresler. It's also on an audiotape entitled Healing Acceleration and Pain Control. This tape is part of the Hypnology series by Dick Sutphen. Instructions:

A. Get into a comfortable position. Take several deep cleansing breaths and allow yourself to relax completely. Now picture hat in front of you there's a large bucket filled with a clear odorless liquid. The liquid is a very powerful anesthetic that can render any tissue insensitive to discomfort or pain.

B. When you're ready, count slowly to three and slowly lower your hands into the bucket. 1....2.....3..... Now lower your hands into the bucket up to your wrists. Feel your fingertips start to tingle as the anesthetic starts to take effect. Soon your hands feel cold and numb. Move your hands to make sure that the anesthetic has taken effect on both of your hands.

C. Now when you count to three place your hands on the part(s) of your body that hurt(s). 1....2....3.... The numbness transfers into your body and your hands take the discomfort and pain that has been in your body and transfers it back to the bucket. Repeat the exercise as many times as needed.

D. When you're ready to complete the exercise, just shake your hands and normal feelings will return. Then take one more deep cleansing breath, count slowly to five, stretch yourself out a little, and slowly open your eyes.

I hope that you find this meditation helpful for managing pain. I'll be back in a couple of days with a new medittion. Until then ~Nameste~
